Course Description
This is a beginning drawing course for students with no former drawing experience. Students draw natural and human-made forms from observation directed toward realistic rendering of objects. Students receive an introduction to pictorial composition and perspective and an introduction to drawing media: pencil, charcoal, conte, and pen and ink. Studio practice emphasizes basic shading principles, techniques and development of 鈥渓ine鈥 qualities of graphic presentation. Students have the opportunity to learn skills, which enable them to develop an aesthetic vocabulary leading to independent critical judgment.
